Since 1730, Old Goshenhoppen Reformed Church has served as a center for religious education and community gathering in Upper Salford Township. This legacy is embodied in our 1732 Gemeinhaus, the oldest standing wooden schoolhouse in North America. Continuing this nearly 300-year tradition of faith-based instruction, Firm Foundation, our parent-led homeschool cooperative ministry, brings families together in Christian fellowship for mutual encouragement and learning.
Our cooperative ministry brings together homeschooling parents who share their God-given talents and expertise with children from elementary through high school ages. In the spirit of the Great Commission and protected by our First Amendment rights of religious assembly and education, parents volunteer their time to create learning experiences rooted in Christian faith.
This ministry upholds our congregation’s historic commitment to religious education while embracing the modern homeschool cooperative model, where parents freely exchange knowledge and skills to support each other’s educational needs. While we maintain public privacy around our operational details, we welcome conversations with homeschooling parents interested in understanding and joining our approach to faith-based learning. Also if you’d like to help financially support this ministry, it is fully sustained through the generous support of community members who share our passion for investing in the spiritual and academic growth of future generations, continuing Old Goshenhoppen’s centuries-old tradition of religious education and community service in Upper Salford Township.
