Join us on the Wednesday before Easter for a very special Holy Week Service. We will be combing the traditional Maundy Thursday and Good Friday services into one service. We will begin by having a communion service downstairs in the “Scots Form” seated around a table, accompanied by a hand washing ceremony in commemoration of Jesus’ last supper. Then we will gather upstirs for a “Tenebrae” service where we read the 7 last sayings of Jesus from the cross and extinguish candles until the sanctuary is dark, all in commemoration of Jesus crucifixion on the cross. The altar and paraments will then be stripped and we will leave in darkness and silence, in eager hope of gathering again on Easter Sunday when the sanctuary will be dressed in white, and bursting with flowers and life as we celebrate Jesus’ resurrection.
